Grand Tour

Our first stop is at Lefkara Village which is located on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains. It features picturesque views. There you will have time to visit a traditional silver hand-craft shop. Next stop is Kykkos Byzantine monastery, which is the largest and wealthiest monastery in Cyprus, situated in the Troodos mountains (largest mountain range in Cyprus)which are located in the center of the island. The monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and there you will see one of the three surviving icons painted by the Apostle Luke. Continuing on, the trip will take you to the highest peak in Cyprus – Mount Olympus (1951 m), where you will have a wide view of green valleys, mountain slopes, vineyards, forests, and small villages. Next stop will bring you to the traditional and picturesque Cypriot village of Omodos, where you can visit Timios Stavros Monastery of the Holy Cross. In Omodos there is also a Museum housing an antique wine press. There you can taste different types of local wine and get acquainted with the famed Commandaria and Zivania. Local people assert that, here, they produce some of the best wines on the island.


Paphos - Curion

Firstly we will visit the ancient city of Kourion and a most spectacular site- the Greco-Roman theatre, which has been completely restored and is used today for open air musical and theatrical performances.  Then we will stop near Aphrodite’s Rock where the Goddess of Love and Beauty was born. Rumour has it, that to swim around the rock brings good luck. Paphos town was the ancient capital city of Cyprus. You can walk through the catacombs of St. Solomoni and inside the caves and chambers. We will also see the Pillar of St. Paul where he was bound and lashed as a punishment for preaching Christianity. From the old port area the Venetian fort, you will have time to discover a nearby Archeological city (explore the house of Dionysus, a Roman villa and floor mosaics).  On our return, we shall taste the famous Paphos delicacies ‘Loukoumia’ as we drop by Geroskipou village.


Larnaca- Nicosia

The first stop is Ayios Lazaros Church -the magnificent church which was built by Emperor Leo Vl, in the 9th century. The tomb of Lazaros, who -after he was raised from the dead in Bethany by Christ, came to Cyprus and lived here for another thirty years and was consecrated as the Bishop of Kition by St. Barnabas and St. Mark. This can be seen under the sanctuary. We arrive at the Capital City of Lefkosia (Nicosia), where we shall visit: Archbishop Palace- which was built in the early fifties -much fighting took place there during the invasion of 1974 when it came close to being completely destroyed,  St John’s Cathedral (Ayios Ioannis) - built in 1665 within the courtyard of the archiepiscopal palace. Look for the 18th-century murals illustrating important moments in Cypriot religious history including a depiction of the tomb of St. Barnabas, Laiki Geitonia -(shopping) traditional neighborhood houses with narrow winding streets and craft shops, the Leventis municipal museum of Nicosia- View the impressive and significant collections, with unique objects from the history of the town which are also highly treasured sources of information on the history of Cyprus.


Famagusta- Kyrenia

We pass by the English Sovereign Base Area of Ayios Nicolaous and the ‘Ghost town’ in the Varosha section of the town of Famagusta. The place has been fenced off by the Turkish army and still is today. Walking around the old town of Famagusta, we can see the wall of the city and the Othello Tower which was originally built in order to protect Famagusta`s harbour and was the main entrance to the town. Next we visit Saint Nicholases Cathedral which is now a mosque, and is the largest medieval building in Famagusta. Next stop is Bellapais Abbey of the 14th century which is regarded as a masterpiece of Gothic art and an architectural monument of worldwide importance. Then we shall drive to the town of Kyrenia with its snow-white houses that lie between archways that open out onto narrow streets. Later on, you can visit Kyrenia castle, where you can see the impact of many different historical periods – Byzantine, Lusignan and Venetian. Inside the castle is a museum which contains the original cargo and equipment from the ancient ship of Kyrenia.


Donkey Safari

We will take you to Apesia Hills where the Donkey farm is located, 16km outside of Limassol.  On the way, you can enjoy beautiful views of the hills and the unspoiled countryside of Cyprus. On arrival at the village square you can see the interesting ‘Tremithos’, a huge tree that is over 1500 years old.   We will also stop for a short visit inside the small church of St. Andrew. On the mini farm next to the donkeys, you can enjoy the goats, chickens and -when in season- the baby donkeys. Have great fun riding your donkey along the trail in the natural hillside environment and breathe in the fresh air of the country. After riding, you can relax a while in the bar area where a complimentary hot or cold drink will be offered to you. There is also a swimming pool where you can cool off on a hot summer’s day. At the local souvenir shop you can find traditional home-made Cypriot pickles, jams and honey.


TROODOS JEEP SAFARI

We begin our journey travelling through rugged hills and valleys, various picturesque villages & Pine forests, reaching some of the most remote places on the Island. A thrilling drive towards Platres will bring us to the waterfalls, located in a Cypriot paradise with lush vegetation, cool spring waters and gorgeous aromas. The tour continues to the Island's highest peak, Mount Olympus. At an altitude of 1951 meters, we stand on the throne of the Ancient Gods and marvel at the panoramic views. Our next stop will be for a relaxing lunch at a traditional mountain village. We continue west of Pedoulas village until we arrive at the famous Kykkos Monastery which houses the Icon of the Virgin Mary painted by St. Luke. Then we head for a wine-producing village where we will have our last coffee break before making your way back to your hotel.

AKAMAS JEEP SAFARI
 

Discover the mysterious and unexplored territory of Akamas and make your way through the Avagas Gorge with its sheer limestone walls rising above you. A short drive ends at Lara Bay - one of the last breeding grounds for the large Green-Backed Turtles. After an adventurous morning, we will have a break for lunch and refreshments. Moving on towards the edge of the northern Peninsula, we visit the Baths of Aphrodite where, according to legend, Aphrodite bathed with her lover Adonis. We then drive to Chrysochou Bay for a swim in the cool, tranquil water. Our last stop is at Skouli village where, at a small extra charge, you can see an interesting collection of endemic snakes and reptiles.
