The implementation of agreements signed between Cyprus and Russia in the context of President Nicos Anastasiades recent visit to Moscow will be examined during the Cyprus-Russia Business & Investment Forum this Friday.

According to Gold News, organised by the Cyprus-Russian Business Association, in cooperation with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation, the Forum will see the participation of both Cypriot and Russian firms and individuals specializing in the field of natural gas, with an aim to strengthening the island’s business relations with Russian professionals, further promoting Cyprus as an International Business Centre and attracting foreign direct investment to the country.

President Anastasiades will address the event, which will also be attended by Nikolay Podguzov, Chairman of the Russia – Cyprus Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, Georgy Petrov, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation and Mikhail Kuzovlev, Chairman of the Russian Business Council on Cooperation with Cyprus. Among the issues to be discussed are the progress of the Cyprus recovery, recent developments within the banking sector, the privatization process of semi-governmental organizations, tourist infrastructure and business opportunities.

Russia’s Ambassador to Cyprus, Stanislav Osadchiy, has praised the coordination of the event, expressing his opinion that the Forum will significantly facilitate further cooperation between the states, particularly as it follows Anastasiades’ successful contacts in Moscow. More specifically, it will examine the ways in which the agreements signed during said visit may effectively be implemented.

On his part, Chairman of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Phidias Pilides, noted that the Forum aims to highlight business and investment relations between Cyprus and Russia and is expected to promote further cooperation in many fields.
