More Britons in Paphos this summer
The head of the Paphos hoteliers union (PASYXE) Themis Phillipides has confirmed that there is an increase in the number of British holidaymakers at hotels in the district.
Phillipides also said the general number of holidaymakers at hotels within the town and around was also pleasing.
“The hotels are close to 75% of their capacity which is very satisfactory,” said Phillipides. “There is always room for improvement but the early signs are very encouraging. Our aim is to improve the financial situation in the town and to trim down unemployment.”
“We have had an increase in numbers from Britain as well as from other countries around Europe“.
He added: “We need to continue enhancing our best product –
which is tourism. Tourism, at the moment, is Cyprus’ most prized asset at this
moment in time. Perhaps the time has come to introduce a ‘professional tourism
school’ in Paphos.”
