The Ministry of Transport is taking into considerationthe idea of constructing a tram system in Nicosia. According to the Minister ofTransport, Marios Demetriades, in approximately three months, the Ministry willfinalize their study on public transport of Nicosia and will announce theirdecision.
The reason why this project has been in mind for a while now is because the populationof the capital city has reached close to 250.000, which makes it a medium sizecity and therefore, could be served by a mix-transport system.
Nicosia’s local authorities have showed their support for a tram system, butonly in the case if the tram system is financially viable for the citizens ofNicosia.
