On 11 of January the residents of Paphos have elected the new mayor
Fedonas Fedonos, the independent candidate who was support by the ruling Democratic Rally (DISY) party, became the new mayor of Paphos. He won with 49%, which is 4,609 votes. Aristos Vassiliades, who was backed by three opposition parties AKEL, DIKO and EDEK followed him with a second place with 2,583 votes that is 27.51%. The abstention this year was quite high and reached 46.60%, which is 8,398 voters. The new mayor will retain the office for two years.
All together there were eight participants who took part in these elections. The other participants are: Doros Pafitis, Andreas Masouras, Andreas Chrysanthou, Vangelis Mavronikolas, Chrysanthos Chrysanthou and Sophie Hambiaouridou.
