The financing of the Famagusta masterplan is expected to be announced during an upcoming visit to the island by US Vice President Joe Biden, the Cyprus News Agency quotes well informed sources as saying.
Biden will visit Cyprus from May 21 to 23, according to the CNA.
He is also expected to announce that experts have been given permission to go into the closed off area (Varosha/Maraş) to study the area and to begin the process of demining three sites, two in the occupied areas and in the free areas.
