More Britons in Paphos this summer

The head of the Paphos hoteliers union (PASYXE) ThemisPhillipides has confirmed that there is an increase in the number of Britishholidaymakers at hotels in the district.

Phillipides also said the general number of holidaymakers athotels within the town and around was also pleasing.

“The hotels are close to 75% of their capacity which is verysatisfactory,” said Phillipides. “There is always room for improvement but theearly signs are very encouraging. Our aim is to improve the financial situationin the town and to trim down unemployment.”

“We have had an increase in numbers from Britain as well asfrom other countries around Europe“.

He added: “We need to continue enhancing our best product –which is tourism. Tourism, at the moment, is Cyprus’ most prized asset at thismoment in time. Perhaps the time has come to introduce a ‘professional tourismschool’ in Paphos.”
