Three retail complexes are being built in Limassol, two near Jumbo in Agios Athanasios, and one on the eastern side of the city (presumably in Pareklisia), according to information that has occasionally emerged in the Cypriot media over the past year. The Mall of Limassol, which investors intend to construct, will be built, according to the daily Politis. The article states that 80 million euros have been set aside for the project's realization.
The Republic of Cyprus' Department of Environmental Protection has been asked to provide a preliminary evaluation of the proposed project. On Spirou Kyprianou Avenue, between Jumbo and the structures of the Agios Stefanos Foundation, they intend to construct a retail complex at the intersection of the jurisdictions of three municipalities (Limassol, Agios Athanasios, and Mesa Gitonya). For 80 million euros, they aim to construct at least one additional mall in Limassol.
The Mall of Limassol includes 1045 parking spots in addition to stores, eateries, cafés, and entertainment facilities. Investors want to help with part of the power demands by helping to install solar panels on the roof.
Numerous research has been carried out. One of them claims that the initiative has a good chance of success because there aren't any neighboring stores of the same caliber. In 2024, construction is scheduled to start. The duration is a year and ten months. For Cyprus locals, the Mall of Limassol will provide roughly 700 permanent employment. They intend to construct at least one additional Mall in Limassol.
The Limassol Shop Owners Association is against the Mall's development. They feel that the economic impact of the opening of yet another shopping mall will be too big. Additionally, the amount of traffic bottlenecks on the roadways will rise as a result of its development.
Investors planned to construct a 46-meter-diameter roundabout at their own expense at the intersection of Spiru Kyprianou Avenue and Georgiu Neofitu Street (the Ajax Hotel is situated on it) to address the transportation issue.
